Creer o no creer en una fuerza espiritual trascendente es la
pregunta siempre hecha que sostiene el debate centenario entre materialistas y espiritualistas. Pensadores, filósofos y científicos, siempre han estado muy divididos sobre este tema, haciendo valer razonamientos muy elaborados tanto en la demostración de una creencia como en la del ateísmo. En ambos casos,se trata de establecer la prueba intelectual de la existencia de un Dios que crea todas las cosas o las pruebas de su inexistencia.Desde los pensadores de la antigüedad griega griega,hemos hecho muy pocos progresos en esta cuestión que divide a la humanidad en dos con fenómenos religiosos en segundo plano basados en una creencia impuesta por la tradición en un universo cultural fijo, respondiendo al uso de costumbres inmutables. En la etapa religiosa, es pura y simple fe, se siente de acuerdo con la gente, y a menudo admitido de hecho, porque fue transmitido a lo largo de las generaciones. La fe es entonces parte de un ambiente inmutable,en un entorno cultural que no ha variado durante varios siglos. Hay, sin embargo, personas de religión que, con el tiempo, han cuestionado sus propias creencias, sometiendo todos los dogmas a una nueva reflexión, ya sea para aprobarlos o para contra- decirlos. Referido a la cristiandad, y a los Padres de la Iglesia de los primeros siglos habían cuestionado las epístolas de San Pablo y los cuatro evangelios sinópticos, produciendo el cisma disidente del arrianismo, basado en la negación de la divinidad de Jesús. Más tarde,varios teólogos, como SanAgustín o TomásdeAquino,llevaron a cabo una investigación que finalmente basó con mayor precisión los principios del catolicismo. Entonces los filósofos a su vez reflexionaron sobre estos principios, y de Kierkegaard a Teilhard de Chardin,muchos de ellos expresaron su propia visión de una creencia en un Dios, más o menos cerca de las teologías religiosas oficiales. Para algunos de ellos, la idea estaba muy alejada, como en Spinoza con su concepción de un Dios panteísta según el cual el alma humana después de la muerte, se mezcla en un gran todo, un poco como en los principios del budismo. Y luego también se desvela el deísmo arreligioso, como el de Voltaire, quien, tomando la imagen de Descartes, habló de un Dios gran relojero del Universo sin el cual el mundo no habría existido. Se trata del deísmo haciendo intervenir lo racional y la razón, a diferencia del teísmo (de la teología),que se basa en la fe en una verdad revelada. Voltaire habla de efectos que no pueden venir de la nada:"Una causa sin efecto es una quimera, un absurdo, así como un efecto sin causa".Aquí tenemos una prefiguración de la idea de Dios según el espiritismo, cuando Allan Kardec insistirá en la relación causa efecto: "Cualquier efecto inteligente tiene una causa inteligente, el poder de la causa está en razón de la grandiosidad del efecto."

CUANDO SE IMPONE LA FE

"Dios existe, lo encontré", así, en 1969 André Frossard llamó a su testimonio una experiencia a la vez inasible y manifiesta, afirmando en su otro libro "Dios en cuestión" (1990): "Esta luz que no he visto con los ojos del cuerpo, no es aquella que nos ilumina, era una luz espiritual, es decir, como una luz didáctica y como la incandescencia de la verdad... Desde que lo he vislumbrado, casi podría decir que para mí sólo existe Dios y que el resto es sólo hipótesis... No tengo fe en Dios, lo he encontrado." Esta fue la experiencia de André Frossard en 1935 a la edad de veinte años cuando entró en una capilla en busca de un amigo. Tuvo entonces una especie de iluminación repentina,que se presentó en forma de certeza: Dios se impuso a él como una evidencia no reflexionada ni razonada, no, una realidad que no habría sufrido ninguna objeción posible. De una manera algo similar, Bernard Tapie testificó recientemente su experiencia espiritual, cuando en su juventud a veces tocaba el violín en una iglesia en los suburbios de París: "... un domingo por la mañana, me embargó una emoción, algo que no puedo describir, que me hizo ejecutar como si estuviera en otro lugar, y traté de entender, y me encontré con un sacerdote que era un tipo extraordinario, me dijo: Bernard, has realizado el encuentro... Este encuentro es incomprensible para quien que no cree... Esta fe es la convicción de que existe alguna otra cosa." Y en un registro diferente, el anciano presidente François Mitterrand, en sus últimos deseos a los franceses, dijo: "El año próximo será mi sucesor quien os expresará sus deseos, allí donde yo esté, con el corazón lleno de reconocimiento por el pueblo francés que me ha confiado su destino durante tanto tiempo, y lleno de esperanza en vosotros. Creo en las fuerzas del espíritu y no me separaré de vosotros." Estos testimonios,entre los más llamativos,a menudo provienen de personalidades con una sensibilidad literaria o artística, y otros han atestiguado un sentimiento indescriptible que les dio la certeza de una trascendencia que los superó, que también fue la experiencia de muchos místicos en la historia. 

EL APORTE ESPÍRITA

Más allá de la fe que a veces se impone fuera de todo pensamiento reflexivo, también hay todo un campo de reflexión que hace intervenir a la razón, concerniente a la creación, el diseño inteligente del Universo o la trascendencia de un Dios. Fue aquí donde el espiritismo estableció una concepción más precisa, evocando las leyes divinas que presiden la existencia del alma, su preexistencia y su vida futura. Todos los principios del espiritismo están conectados con lo divino, desde el origen de todo espíritu creado "simple e ignorante" hasta su propósito lejano de amor total en el seno de la creación divina, a través de un largo viaje palingenésico en la lenta evolución intelectual y moral del ser. Esto es lo que Allan Kardec definía como leyes divinas que podrían ser afirmadas por el más allá expresándose a través de la mediumnidad. Así, todo no responde más que a las leyes universales teniendo una dirección inteligente y amorosa, leyes que contradicen la idea del mero azar que algunos todavía reclaman, pero que no puede satisfacer la razón. Son estas leyes universales las que se describen y explican en El Libro de los Espíritus,constituyendo los principios de una doctrina sobre la inmortalidad del alma...de acuerdo con la enseñanza dada por los Espíritus Superiores con la ayuda de diversos médiums.(Subtítulo de El Libro de los Espíritus) 

LOS GRANDES PRINCIPIOS  

El primer principio que enseñaron los Espíritus fue el de la existencia de un Dios afirmado en"Las causas primeras"al comienzo de El Libro de los Espíritus. Las primeras experimentaciones espíritas destacaron la supervivencia del espíritu después de la muerte y su posible manifestación, que sólo podía plantear la cuestión de una fuerza trascendente presidiendo las leyes naturales relativas a la creación y a la evolución. Detrás de la supervivencia del espíritu estaba necesa-riamente la cuestión de Dios. Y dado que la palabra de los muertos podía ser recibida a través del canal mediúmnico, también era evidente que los espíritus de los difuntos liberados de la condición material serían más capaces de responder a las grandes preguntas filosóficas, incluyendo la de una fuerza creativa en el origen de todas las cosas. Y esto es lo que sucedió gracias al trabajo metódico de Allan Kardec, quien, dirigiéndose a los Espíritus más esclarecidos, conocidos como Los Espíritus Superiores, obtuvo respuestas detalladas sobre todas las áreas esenciales de la metafísica: Dios y el Universo; el principio de un impulso espiritual del amor infinito, la fuerza de la creación y el motor de la evolución; las leyes de la evolución, incluida la ley fundamental de la reencarnación; el principio de solidaridad contenido en la relación entre los vivos y los muertos con la noción del guía espiritual; y finalmente la expansión de la vida encarnada a otros mundos habitados en el Universo Infinito.Y es a través de otra ley divina que todos estos principios han sido promulgados, el de la posible comunicación con los desencarnados gracias a sensibilidades particulares inherentes a las personas llamadas médiums. Fue a través del estudio de la mediumnidad y su funcionamiento, y por el análisis de los resultados obtenidos, que el fundador del espiritismo puso en evidencia las leyes que, hasta entonces, nunca habían sido realmente aprehendidas.  

Por lo tanto,está claro que las leyes universales se han actualiza-do como un principio inmutable, que han sido confirmadas y reafirmadas en la continuación de la historia espírita, con los sucesores de Allan Kardec y hasta hoy. También se destacó otro elemento inherente a las leyes naturales y divinas, el de un fluido imponderable, llamado fluido vital o fluido universal, elemento del cual el espíritu extrajo su energía en el mismo momento en que fue creado por un impulso divino. En este momento inicial, el espíritu naturalmente extrajo del fluido universal los elementos constitutivos de su periespíritu. Así nació al mismo tiempo un espíritu"simple e ignorante"extrayendo la energía necesaria para constituir su envoltura fluídica llamada semimaterial, el periespíritu. Es un doble etérico que sirve de intermediario entre el espíritu y la materia, un organismo indispensable para la manifestación de un espíritu a través de un médium, indispensable también durante el proceso de la encarnación cuando el Espíritu necesita este intermediario fluídico para animar la materia en el momento de la fecundación y así pulsar la vida.  

EL SIGNIFICADO DE UNA SÍNTESIS 

A través del acceso al otro mundo,se definieron los principios divinos,habiendo hecho posible determinar el sentido de la evolución universal,al tiempo habiendo encontrado un Dios que ya no era el de una pertenencia religiosa o mística. El Dios de San Agustín había engendrado una religión fijada sobre sus dogmas; que sintió André Frossard y otros testigos similares, seguía siendo el resultado de una experiencia personal excepcional pero indefinible; en cuanto a Voltaire, en su imagen algo mecanicista del gran relojero del Universo, prefiguraba las leyes de la causalidad puestas en evidencia más tarde por Allan Kardec.De hecho,desde la antigüedad hasta hoy,hubo una búsqueda de significado, que en todas las épocas planteó la cuestión de una fuerza espiritual en el origen del mundo y de la vida. Ya la metafísica de Platón fue en sí misma decisiva en varios aspectos, evocando por ejemplo la transmigración de almas o el mundo superior de las ideas en el mito de la cueva. Al hacer algunas extensiones, uno no está muy lejos de la doctrina espírita, y entonces se puede evocar a su maestro Sócrates, que habló de su daimôn, una especie de inspirador o voz consejera que sugiere las resoluciones correctas a tomar y las cosas que no se pueden hacer. Esto está cerca de la noción del guía espiritual. En las diversas religiones que más tarde han visto el día, esta noción ha persistido, y se trata de un buen genio, del ángel guardián, o de un antepasado protector. En la noción de Dios y las leyes universales en el espiritismo, encontramos parcelas de lo que se adivinó en filosofía o religión. Esto nos indica que existe la intuición fundamental de otra realidad, que fue percibida o presentida por muchos seres humanos a lo largo de la historia. Sin embargo, Dios a menudo ha permanecido esquivo y no perceptible, por lo que era necesario buscarlo y adivinarlo a través de una reflexión más intelectual. Esto es lo que encontramos través de los primeros principios espíritas poniendo en evidencia las leyes espirituales universales mucho más precisas y claramente definidas,gracias a la comunicación postmortem,y se podrá igualmente referir a lo que Allan Kardec llamó los atributos dela divinidad(Libro de los Espíritus, capítulo primero). JESUS & the DIVINE LAWS

“To attain the level of morality that every Spiritist needs in order to fulfill his mission as properly as possible, and to have peace somewhat while on earth, and to attain some happiness in the spirit world, he should fulfill the Divine Law. Where is this Law? It is the Gospel as proclaimed by Jesus…

 

“The fulfillment of those laws is vital to our moral progress, our inner peace and for our happiness...

 

“We know that he said that we should love each other as brothers and sisters…we should love our enemies, bless those who speak ill of us, pray for those that insult us and persecute us and return good for evil…

 

“It was not in vain that the Creator sent us the greatest spirit that has yet to set foot on this earth... Allan Kardec, with communications from the superior spirits, pointed out Jesus as our model and guide… [1]

 

“Therefore, those who follow him will not lose their way in terrestrial life…We should study him; the moral sense of his words, the spiritual laws [most importantly, we have an immortal soul that never dies] he taught us. We should study his behavior through his sacrifices, his abnegation, his love and his wisdom.

 

“We should, above all, study the purpose of his elevated mission because within this issue, there are two essential points of foremost importance…

 

“I have said that it is necessary to comprehend the Divine Law in order to fulfill it, and that is the first point that a Spiritist should attend to in order to follow the path of justice and love. “We are all here on this earth to be tested, and many are in expiation. At times, many years pass when the trials are not hard and the expiations are not very severe, but when the trials are such that we feel as if it will overwhelm us, when the expiation is so painful that we can hardly bear them, it is of great benefit to remember not only his commandments, but also his sufferings and the resignation of our great Teacher Jesus… Amidst his afflictions [abandoned by his apostles, imprisoned, scourged and finally crucified] he never complained, having only resignation with a superior calmness…he loved them all and pardoned them…The memory of such great acts should impel us towards resignation, to suffer pain without complaint and suffer trials with serene courage...”

JESUS & DIVINE LOVE

REINCARNATION & HELPING OTHERS

Regarding the law of reincarnation, Spiritists are periodically asked this question:

If someone is suffering or struggling through something and they deserve it (whether due to their own fault now or due to past life debts) should we help them if we can?

 

Whether we believe in reincarnation or not, all the major religions teach the Golden Rule, “treat others as you would want to be treated,” and it is the same with Spiritism.

 

However, to address the situation purely from a reincarnation perspective, the answer is still the same. Help them if you should and can.

 

You may be the very person placed in their path, through the natural course of events (many times planned prior to incarnating), to end that very person’s suffering because it was time for that person to get help or their suffering to end.

 

Another question frequently asked is:

What can we do to help someone if we are unable to assist them?

 

If we feel unable to help a person who we know needs help, we can provide words of comfort, encouragement, expressions of caring and love.

And, by PRAYER, requesting spiritual assistance for others is a charity and the good spirits second our intentions by providing aid in whatever way they can. We can pray for those we care about (and for ourselves) to receive emanations of healing, and spiritual vibrations for moral strength and courage in the midst of trials and tests, as well as to provide encouragement and hope.   

 

We are all here in the material world to progress and we do that by interacting, learning from and helping one another. This can be very stressful, heartbreaking, frustrating, adversarial, and even dangerous. Yet, it also can be very wonderful!

 

“Do not judge, lest ye be judged.” We all have our particular faults and we are all very imperfect beings. We should do our very best to practice forgiveness, compassion, charity and love. We incarnate together to care for each other.

 

Remember, we are also held responsible for all the good we could have done, but did not do.    

 

 

CHARITY – A Spirit Communication

A PERSON of VIRTUE

What is virtue? It is the prize that a person of goodness gains when he/she puts into practice those things that enhance its spirit, things that are always based on morality and love, that we should partake with our fellow human beings without caring about race, color or creed.

 

The person that is good, is one that considers those that surround them as if they were their relatives, and shares with them whatever they have, always recognizing that under the Sun on Earth all children come from one Father, our Creator.

 

All human beings are created simple and innocent, but with a broad path opened to progress before them so they can work towards it individually, then, to therefore gain their infinite progress.

 

The ones that are wicked [ignorant of not comprehending being good and goodness is beneficial for eventual happiness] maintain thoughts of base passions, which has a tendency to make them fall under a spell which accumulates feelings of bitterness and suffering, multiplying, each time getting stronger.

 

Until one day, for the spirit, it is almost impossible for it to suffer anymore.

 

It is then, it begins to ponder and realize the error of their ways. It next decides to commence reparation of its harmful ways, which are many, because the spirit had alienated itself from the path of goodness, and instead taken the path of lower passions causing so much unhappiness and suffering, in their present and would in the future, if there is no change.

 

However, remorse causes the spirit to try and correct its ways (since the spirit stores in its inner self all the good and wrongfulness it has done).

 

Finally, it begins to change and sees the results of the beginning of its going along the right path, and being somewhat content, although still sorrowful due to its past indiscretions.

 

Afterwards, it will be happier knowing it has begun to acknowledge its errors, and that in the future, it will be more joyful.

 

When the spirit decides to transform itself into a person of goodness, doors will then open and they will lead it towards infinite progress.

 

It will begin to develop virtues which will conducts it towards humanity and the Creator, and this is what can be defined as a spirit of goodness and morality.

 

The morality that Jesus spoke of.

 

It is a goodness that can lift a person towards that infinite Supreme Creator!  

 

That is then a person of virtue.

CHANGE & PROGRESSION

Truly knowing ourselves, realizing our faults and making a conscious decision to change and putting changes into practice can be very difficult. Bad habits die hard. Selfishness and ego are tough enemies. More times than not, we have to learn the hard way through trial and error. Thank God, our spirit has innumerable lifetimes in order to make the necessary changes we need!

Growing up and throughout my schooling whether it was in NYC or in Florida, all my teachers taught and spoke of our country as a “melting pot” made up of immigrants from many countries and this was a good thing, and what made our country great and different from others.  We were all Americans no matter our heritage! It saddens me that the tone and the actions of some people have gotten so away from that idea.

 

Yet, we cannot forget that since our country’s beginning, we always had division problems (religious intolerance, slavery, injustice and inequalities of all kinds, etc.) among people and penetrating all our institutions, and continues to this day. Other countries have them, too.

 

Problems cannot be fixed unless they are exposed first, then they can be debated, and then there can be some changes in attitudes, which can then be channeled into creating laws to reflect more fairness and justice in a society. It is an ongoing struggle and constantly evolving situation…

 

However, our country is NOT the same as when it began. We have no institutional slavery; women can vote – it took 100 yrs.; we have labor laws, rights for disabled, etc., etc.). It has been a continual and difficult struggle by committed people (of which too many unfortunately have died throughout the many years) for the cause of seeking justice for themselves and others.

 

Sometimes, it seems we take two steps backward and one step forward. Yet, beneficial changes have been made throughout the years and continuing, and this shows us change is possible so we can never lose hope for a much fairer more unified less divisive society. As mankind evolves in morality, there is change towards goodness.

 

The law of progress is very slow, but persistent. It is a Divine law, and therefore shall be fulfilled.

BEARING WITNESS - Points to Ponder

The smart phone and social media have revealed human acts that may have never been known and it has had great impact on society. May the truth set us free!
